Progress Named a Visionary in Gartner 2016 Magic Quadrant for Mobile App Development Platforms

Jul 07, 2016

Progress is one of 17 vendors included in the report based on its completeness of vision and ability to execute

BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS) today announced its position as a Visionary in the newly published Gartner "Magic Quadrant for Mobile App Development Platforms" (MADP) report. This is the third inclusion for the company's mobile application development platform.

The annual report published by Gartner on June 15 provides a qualitative analysis into the MADP market and its direction, maturity and vendor participants. Criteria for inclusion is based on completeness of vision and ability to execute, including market understanding, marketing and sales strategy/execution, offering/product strategy and execution, business model, viability, vertical/industry and geographic alignment, innovation, market responsiveness, customer experience and overall track record.

According to the report, "Mobile apps are at the front line of the digital revolution, and MADPs are becoming the main driver accelerating digital transformation in businesses." 1 In fact, Gartner also says that, "by 2020, more than 75 percent of enterprises will have adopted at least one mobile app development platform to accelerate their digital business transformation strategy, up from approximately 33 percent in 2015."

In May, Progress announced its vision and strategy for digital transformation as well as the release of Progress® DigitalFactory™, a cloud-based solution to address enterprise needs for digital transformation. Mobile app development plays a pivotal role in the advancement of digital business, and Progress mobile development technologies and mobile-enabling solutions—such as Telerik® Platform by Progress and Progress DigitalFactory—are part of a multi-dimensional digital solution that both transforms businesses and how customers engage with them.

"We're thrilled by our placement in the Visionaries quadrant," said Michael Benedict, Chief Product Officer, Progress. "At the rate in which our market is shifting and the importance of digital business, having foresight and an approach that looks five or 10 years down the road is critical to any business's success. We're partnering with our customers to ensure they have the technology necessary to not only stay competitive, but to be leaders in their respective markets. Gartner's inclusion, in our minds, further validates that we're driving our business in the right direction."
