Evaluation Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS), today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Visionaries quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Application Platform as a Service (aPaaS). The Gartner report, authored and published by Yefim Natis, Massimo Pezzini, Mark Driver, David Mitchell Smith, Kimihiko Iijima and Ross Altman on January 7, 2014 notes that, "Enterprise CIOs, IT planners and architects at a growing number of organizations are turning to the cloud for their new application initiatives." The Progress® Pacific platform-as-a-service (PaaS) enables rapid creation and deployment of data-driven business applications that are unlimited by device or cloud.

According to the report, "Enterprise IT users too are coming to the aPaaS market in increasing numbers. With the growing adoption of SaaS by mainstream enterprise business and of IaaS by mainstream enterprise IT, more organizations have become familiar with the benefits of cloud computing and more have become dependent on cloud resources. aPaaS is engaged to customize and extend SaaS. It is also engaged by users that have become comfortable with the use of IaaS and now wish to increase their productivity and delegate more responsibility to the cloud service providers by subscribing directly to application infrastructure."

"We believe being positioned as a visionary in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for enterprise aPaaS reaffirms our strategy of delivering innovative new products and features that help businesses of all sizes take advantage of the simplicity and productivity benefits of cloud application development," said Phil Pead, President and CEO of Progress. "Businesses around the world are struggling with resource constraints, increasing time-to-market pressures and complex technology challenges. Today's applications require the ability to integrate multiple SaaS and on-premise data sources, support ever-changing mobile platforms and have the flexibility to be deployed anywhere. With the Progress Pacific platform, we are providing both developers and business users with a multi-dimensional platform that elegantly addresses these challenges, enabling them to quickly solve problems faster and create market differentiation."
