Progress Launches Contest to Spark the Next Great Business Application

Provides Extreme Tech Challenge Contestants with Free Rapid Application Development Tools and Go-To-Market Support

BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), a global software company that simplifies and enables the development and deployment of business applications, today announced it is partnering with the Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) to launch the Progress-XTC Challenge.

The Extreme Tech Challenge is the first start-up competition in conjunction with the world's largest consumer electronics show, CES. The program brings together targeted resources and world-class advisors to help high-energy, innovative entrepreneurs with their big ideas. XTC is a unique competition designed to find the world's best and brightest tech entrepreneurs and accelerate their success.

Progress is raising the stakes for ISV's - challenging them to build their applications using Progress® development tools, including Rollbase® platform for rapid application development in the cloud, Modulus™ PaaS to deploy, manage, monitor and scale Node.js applications and Corticon® business rules management to add sophisticated automated decisioning with a best-of-breed rules engine.

Participants in the Progress-XTC Challenge, a contest within the XTC contest, will receive free development licenses, free product training and mentoring. The winner will receive $25,000 in market development funds, with the two runners up receiving $5,000 in marketing development funds each.
