BEDFORD, Mass. – January 22, 2014 – Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS) today announced it is a sponsor of the hackTECH Hackathon (Santa Monica, CA, January 24-26, 2014), the largest hackathon on the west coast. The event is expected to draw more than 1,500 students from more than 50 schools across the United States who’ll develop apps for a chance to win cash prizes.
As part of Progress’ hackTECH API prize, students will have the opportunity to develop applications using the Progress Rollbase™ application development platform, for a chance to win cool prizes. The Progress Pacific modern development platform as a service (PaaS) allows users to rapidly create and deploy data-driven business applications unlimited by device or cloud.
Applications can be directed at any industry sector and will be judged by a panel of technologists from Progress based on creativity, technical skill and marketability. Progress will be giving extra consideration to applications focused on the “Internet of Things” (IoT). The most promising application showcasing IoT will win an hour of business advice from a Progress expert.
