Nov 14, 2018

Company honored for bolstering gender diversity in its C-suite and boardroom

BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 2018-- Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS), the leading provider of application development and digital experience technologies, today announced it has been named the winner of the “Leadership in the Advancement of Women Award” from The Boston Club. The award recognizes New England companies that achieve gender diversity in their executive suite and boardroom. Winners were announced during The Boston Club’s 2018 Corporate Salute event, which took place November 7 in Boston.

“With the addition of two women to its Board and one to its executive suite this year, Progress has demonstrated their commitment to supporting inclusion and diversity through the advancement of women,” said Hilary A. Potts, Chair of The Boston Club’s Corporate Board Committee. “This year alone, 42% of open Board seats at the 100 largest Massachusetts public companies were filled by women, up from 29% last year because of companies like Progress. We thank Progress for the example it is setting for other businesses and congratulate them on this achievement.”

In the past year, Progress has appointed two women to its Board of Directors – Sam King, Senior Vice President, General Manager and Chief Strategy Officer of Veracode, and Angela Tucci, Chief Executive Officer of Apto. The two accomplished technology leaders represent important additions to the Board, bringing valuable software industry and entrepreneurial experience.

Progress also named a female executive officer, Loren Jarrett. In her role as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for the company, she is responsible for driving the company’s global marketing and strategy efforts. Jarrett is also currently spearheading Progress’ Inclusion and Diversity program, with a focus on attracting more women to the company, enabling their career growth, and creating a culture in which people of all backgrounds are valued and can do their best work.

“The business case showing that gender diversity on corporate boards and executive teams leads to higher company performance, is well established and compelling,” said Yogesh Gupta, CEO, Progress. “Progress is extremely proud to be recognized for our efforts in inclusion and diversity, which we are pursuing not only in our boardroom, but throughout our company. We believe that creating an inclusive and diverse workplace drives us to produce the best solutions to meet challenges and compete in a global market.”

The Boston Club’s mission is to impel the advancement of women to top leadership positions at public companies in Massachusetts and beyond. Founded in 1976, The Boston Club has grown into one of the largest organizations for women executive and professional leaders in the Northeast. Its 700 members represent an impressive cross-section of industries and sectors, and encompass top-tier corporate executives, entrepreneurs, attorneys, financial advisers, strategic marketing consultants, college presidents and nonprofit leaders. The Boston Club’s core belief is that more women in significant and visible leadership roles will mean better business performance and strengthened economic health in our communities.
