Stanford Graduate School of Business Selects Progress DataDirect Connect XE for ODBC Driver for Salesforce.com Data Connectivity

Jun 07, 2012

Cost-Effective Data Integration Directly from the Cloud to Enterprise Applications

BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), today announced that Stanford Graduate School of Business has selected Progress® DataDirect Connect® XE for ODBC drivers to provide real-time connectivity to its Salesforce.com installation. Stanford will use the DataDirect Connect drivers to integrate Salesforce.com data with its on-premise enterprise application stack in the ongoing management of its Alumni database. Since Oracle lacks the ability to directly access Salesforce.com data without intermediary layers, DataDirectConnect XE for ODBC drivers provide direct connection to data stored in the Cloud on a more cost-effective basis.

Like many educational institutions, Stanford University connects with its Alumni base for many reasons, including social networking and business development. Because Stanford Graduate School of Business uses Salesforce.com as an Alumni management tool, it needed access to Cloud-based data for a variety of reports and other on-premise database initiatives. To use the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) suite for real-time enterprise-level reporting, the School needed a high functionality driver to provide real-time, reliable access. Progress DataDirect drivers are the only standards-based solutions on the market to provide real-time access to operational data in Salesforce.com for applications such as the OBIEE Administrative Tools.

DataDirect Connect XE for ODBC drivers help Stanford's IT department by:

  • Delivering out-of-the-box access, high performance and reliable connectivity to critical data stored in Salesforce.com;
  • Enabling direct connectivity to Salesforce using Oracle Business Intelligence, without adding additional IT layers or associated costs; and
  • Eliminating data synchronization and data caching requirements by enabling SQL-driven Cloud or on-premise applications with direct, real-time accessibility to their Salesforce.com data.

"Stanford Business School was looking for flexibility, functionality and value," said John Goodson, Senior Vice President, Products Progress Software. "As organizations continue to leverage existing Business Intelligence tools to handle reporting, they require rock solid data access to new and emerging Cloud data sources like Salesforce.com. Enterprise grade Business Intelligence systems have exacting requirements with no room for error. Our new Salesforce.com solution is the only driver that can deliver the level of performance, reliability, and flexibility needed to be successful."
