DataDirect Technologies to Host XML Workshops in Toronto and Washington, D.C.

Jun 08, 2009
DataDirect Technologies to Host XML Workshops in Toronto and Washington, D.C.BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 8, 2009-- DataDirect Technologies, the unparalleled leader in data connectivity and mainframe integration and an operating company of Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), today announced the schedule and agenda for its popular XML Workshop series. The free, hands-on workshops in Toronto and Washington, D.C. will explore innovative data integration approaches that leverage the inherent power and flexibility of XML and XQuery.

For software developers and IT departments that struggle with processing customer data formats from relational databases, EDI feeds, XML documents and Web services, the XML Workshops will offer practical guidance on how to interact with a variety of data sources to process business-critical data. Specifically, the workshops will address:

  • Creating applications that deal with different versions and formats of EDI messages
  • Transforming EDI messages or XML documents into user-defined formats
  • Augmenting information in incoming EDI or XML messages with data available in relational databases or Web services
  • Exposing message cleansing operations as data services
  • Outputting data messages in industry standard EDI formats

Unlike other professional development workshops that deliver a lecture followed by audience question and answer time, DataDirect Technologies’ XML Workshops are designed to be highly interactive and engaging. Experts from DataDirect’s XML group will write, test and deploy these techniques live, in front of the audience, stopping to answer questions as they arise.

“The XML Workshops offer attendees practical advice on pressing and relevant issues of the day,” said Ivan Predruzzi, XML products program manager at DataDirect Technologies and lead presenter at the XML Workshops. “All of the content is based on the real-world challenges that we hear from our customers every day. Past attendees have found these events tremendously valuable and we’re pleased to once again bring the XML Workshops to the software development community.”
