BEDFORD, Mass., May 17, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), a leading software provider that enables enterprises to be operationally responsive, today announced that Ovum, an industry analyst firm, has placed Progress(R) Savvion(R) Business Process Manager (BPM) platform in the "shortlist" category in its recent research report1. The report measures BPM vendors across three criteria: market impact, end-user sentiment and technology offering, and places each of the vendors into one of three categories: explore, consider or shortlist.
The Ovum report gives the Savvion BPM platform one of the top scores in the technology assessment, including the top score in Simulation and Testing, Runtime Process Management, and Analytics. The report also recognizes the flexibility delivered by the Savvion business process analysis (BPA), BPM systems (BPMS) and business process improvement (BPI) capabilities.
According to the report: "The Savvion [BPM platform] has garnered a reputation for innovation, embracing all patterns, regardless of whether they are centered on documents, systems, human interactions, projects, decisions, cases or events." The report also states that: "the Savvion BPMS is impressive. The platform can handle virtually any process scenario with a single, modular and well-articulated product set. Also worthy of note are its user friendly interfaces, its clear hand-off between the modules and its ability to adapt to user experience layers, depending on target audience. The Savvion [BPM platform] also has very lucid positioning and a clear future improvement roadmap for each of its modules."
The report is optimistic about the impact of the acquisition of Savvion by Progress Software in January 2010, citing Progress Software's success with its middleware technologies and the clear need for BPM in the Progress product portfolio.
Dr. M.A. Ketabchi, vice president, Strategy, at Progress Software, said: "Business process management is a critical piece of the Progress Responsive Process Management (RPM) suite and our vision to enable enterprises to achieve operational responsiveness. The Savvion platform's best-in-class BPM capabilities will play an important role in enabling our customers to sense and respond to business events in real time."
With the Savvion BPM platform, Progress Software offers a comprehensive, standards-based BPM suite that helps more than 300 of the world's top-performing companies - including 24 of the 'Fortune 100' - automate and continuously improve critical business processes.
