EMEA-based developer conference to include eight practical workshops on app development and women empowerment
Bedford, Mass.—October 17, 2019—Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS), the leading provider of application development and digital experience technologies, today announced that its premier developer conference, DevReach 2019, has expanded its agenda to include eight hands-on workshops–twice more than initially announced–on app development and women empowerment. With the additions, the event will now span five full days, Oct. 20-24. It will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria.
“DevReach isn’t a conference solely about technologies. It’s a conference about the tech community and the trends and issues that shape it and help it develop,” said Sara Faatz, Senior Manager, Developer Relations, Progress. “Attendees will have the opportunities not only to further develop their technical skills but also take part in a bigger conversation about women empowerment in the workplace. We will hear from a group of inspiring women who have been motivated to pursue a career in STEM and discuss how we can be active and successful in the tech community.”
Women empowerment workshops
DevReach 2019’s women empowerment workshops will feature two sessions, part of a global initiative for increasing diversity in the tech industry, called Vue Vixens and ngGirls. They are aimed at professionals who want to learn mobile app development with popular technologies Vue.js and Angular, respectively. The third workshop, Empower Women @ DevReach, will explore common trends and issues that women in STEM encounter such as “imposter syndrome,” career path challenges and community engagement opportunities, among others.
Workshops:
- Empower Women @ DevReach
- Vue Vixens (App development with Vue.js)
- NgGirls (App development with Angular)
Application development workshops
The technical workshops will be focused on application development with popular frameworks like Blazor and React as well as specific Progress technologies, including Progress® Telerik® developer tooling, Progress® Sitefinity® framework, Progress® Kinvey® Chat hosted service, and NativeScript® open-source framework. Through a step-by-step approach, participants will be able to build real-world applications, a fully functioning chatbot and transform Angular websites to multi-platform applications running on web, Android and iOS.

- Build a Sitefinity App in a Day
- Let’s Build an App with React

All workshops will take place in the Progress office in Sofia on Oct. 20, 21 and 24.
