Progress Software Unlocks Next Generation Application Development with New Cloud-enabled Progress OpenEdge

Sep 22, 2011

BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), a leading software provider that enables enterprises to be operationally responsive, today announced Progress® OpenEdge® 11, a comprehensive development platform ideal for building dynamic, business-process enabled software applications that can be securely deployed across any platform, any mobile device and any Cloud.

This new and enhanced release of the Progress OpenEdge platform offers:

  • A patent-pending multi-tenant database
  • Multi-Cloud deployment options
  • Business process-enabled development
  • Extended platform support for mobile devices

These key values combine to provide a robust return on investment (ROI) by reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) and reducing the time it takes to develop and deploy Cloud-based applications. The OpenEdge 11 release will be available generally in late 2011.

Colleen Smith, vice president of Platforms and Integration, Progress Software, said "Using the latest OpenEdge platform, our ISV partners can develop dynamic solutions that incorporate business process and integration capabilities across multiple platforms and devices in a secure manner. Whether deployed on-premise or in the Cloud using the Progress® Arcade™ portal, we offer our customers and ISV partners a single, integrated, development platform that provides significant cost savings and increased productivity."

The OpenEdge 11 release is unique in that multi-tenancy is built into the database and physically separates data storage, providing greater security and control for Cloud deployments. Additionally, this release simplifies SaaS (software-as-a-service) enablement, provides complete platform diversity, and a trusted partnership philosophy.

To boost productivity and empower continuous process improvement, the Progress® Savvion® Business Process Management (BPM) platform has been fully integrated into OpenEdge 11. The full integration of BPM into an application development platform is another unique feature and enables IT developers and ISV partners to seamlessly develop dynamic business process-enabled applications right out of the box.
